The first session looked at the 12 as one group. Who they were (from the information we know about them) in terms of their jobs (before being called) and whether they were brothers. To help us remember them, they made 12 clay Disciples.
Here is a picture of those which survived being moved from the place where the clay dried out.
The other 5 needed some glue to stick heads and arm back on to the body!
One week 2, we looked at Matthew via a quiz. Matthew had, arguably, the biggest changed of life style. He went from being a Tax Collector (comfortably well off) to unemployed having answered Jesus' call to "follow me".
Then the surviving 7 Disciples and 4 repaired ones became available for painting. Here are some pictures.

For Week 3 we looked at Peter. Instead of the Leader developing a program about Peter, the result of the session came form the Pioneers' themselves. They were challenged to come up with a poem, song, rap or structured form of words based on the following information: -
He was a fisherman
Jesus’ first words to him were “Come, follow me”
Jesus’ last words to him were “You must follow me”
Walked on the water with Jesus
Jesus built his “church” on Peter
Peter means “rock”
Peter denied Jesus three times
Jesus asked Peter three time if he loved him
Often got thing wrong, but kept going
Teaches that following and getting things not quite right is
better than not following at all
The end result was: -
Jesus built on me
A huge big Church
For all to see.
I’ve walked on water
But lost my faith
Started to sink
‘Til I was saved.
My Name means rock
To my surprise
When I floated on
water
I didn’t die.
I am a fisherman
Yet now I catch
People for Jesus
There is no match.
