29th Jan 2012

As the kitchen at the Church is still being refurbished, which also meant that some of the rooms were unusable, Pioneers met at the Manse (Minister's house).  Due to it being one of the young people's 17th birthday, a special selection of biscuits were offered around.

Once the biscuits were being eaten (and the Minister had left us some anyway), we looked at the theme of "knives", which had been chosen by them.

The Bible story we looked at was the arrest of Jesus and one of the followers cutting off the ear of a slave.  We felt that this was a natural reaction to events that were not fully understood (as we now know) and the intimidation of the armed crowd.

We discussed how violence leads to violence and how walking away is the better option.  We read stories from a newspaper about knife crime.  To help remember the message, they were given a small bookmark to colour in.
